How do I e-mail a completed form to a client?

Please Note: Steps 1-4 only need to be completed once, but must be completed on each computer that will be used to e-mail forms to clients.

1. You should NOT e-mail a file created using the "Save Form" button to a client. If you do, the client will be prompted for a username and password to open the file, and the client will not be able to open the file.

2. To e-mail a completed form to a client, you must first download a free program that allows you to create complete PDF file documents. These documents can be opened, viewed, and printed by anyone with the Adobe Reader software. (You must only download this software once.)

3. Go to www.cutepdf.com and download the "CutePDF Writer". If you are asked to "Run" or "Save" the file, choose "Run".

4. Follow the directions to install the software. If prompted to install a free converter, you should choose Yes to install the converter program as well.

5. Open a completed form that you would like to e-mail to a client (see Opening and Filling Out Forms Tutorial for more help with this step).

6. Click the Print Form button or click the Print button on the toolbar (see Printing Forms Tutorial for more help with this step).

7. Choose the CutePDF Printer from the Printer Name drop-down box. If the CutePDF printer is not an option in the Printer Name box, go back to step 3 and download the CutePDF Printer Writer again..

8. Click the OK button. You are printing to a software printer which means that the document will be saved to a file instead of printing on paper.

9. The software will ask you to save the file. Type a name for the file and save the file in an easy-to-locate folder.

10. Open your e-mail program and attach the file you saved in step 9. Compose your e-mail message and send the message to your client.

11. Your client will need the free Adobe Reader program to view and print the document. This software can be downloaded for free from www.adobe.com. Your client will not be able to make changes to the form, but will be able to print the form, sign it, and fax or mail it back to you.

12. Complete steps 5-11 for each additional form that you would like to e-mail to a client.

13. If this process doesn't work and the document is unreadable please verify:

  • That you downloaded AND installed the CutePDF Writer in steps 3-4 above
  • That you and your client have the Adobe Reader program installed on your computers
  • More help with this process is available by e-mailing us. Please provide a detailed description of any errors or issues that you are experiencing
