How do I use the MLS Data File on my PDA device?

Initial Setup
Complete these steps ONCE before using the MLS Data File.

1. Visit www.handbase.com and click the Products menu

2. Select your device, then click Add to Cart

3. Complete the checkout process and save the installation file to your computer.

4. Run the installation file you saved in step 3 to install the software on your computer.

5. Follow the instructions to complete the installation and install the software on your PDA device. Note that you may need to enter your product serial number the first time you use the software.

Updating MLS Data
Complete these steps to update the MLS data on your PDA device.

1. Visit www.iowarealtors.com and click the "Mobile MLS Data" link, then click the Data File link under your MLS name

2. For security, you will be prompted to enter a username and password. Use your NRDS ID as the username, and use your IAR password for the password. Note that the username and password may be different than your MLS username and password.

Click HERE if you need to look up your NRDS ID and password.

3. You will be asked to open or save the file. Click the Open button.

4. Click OK to install the file to your PDA device (your screen may look differently).

5. Synchronize your PDA device computer to complete the installation.

6. If you are a member of more than one MLS, you may repeat this process and download multiple MLS data files to the same PDA device.

7. You must perform this download process periodically to update the MLS data on your PDA device. The MLS data on your PDA device is only as up-to-date as the last time you performed this process. For your convenience, MLS data files are automatically generated daily at 6:00 AM, so you may update your PDA device daily if desired.

Viewing MLS Data on your PDA Device
Follow these steps to view the MLS data on your PDA device.

1. Open the HanDBase 3 program on your PDA device

2. If you see the name of your MLS listed, tap the name of your MLS and then tap the Open button. If you don't see the name of your MLS or you don't see any MLS data, go back to the previous step and re-download and install the data file.

3. Your MLS data should appear. By default, listings are sorted first by area, then by property type, and then by price.

4. You may scroll up/down and left/right using the arrows on the screen, or by using your device's scroll buttons.

5. Tap a listing to view detailed information.

6. You may also open the MLS data files using your desktop or laptop computer by running the HanDBase Desktop program. This means that you can view MLS data on your laptop, even when you can't connect to the Internet.

7. Remember: You MUST periodically download a new data file from the IAR website. The listing data on your PDA device is only as up-to-date as the last time you downloaded a data file from the IAR website. Data files are automatically generated every morning at 6:00 AM, so you may download data files daily if desired.
