Home Sales Up Slightly, Home Prices Rise Again in August

Median sales price increased by 6.1 percent from last year. Home sales were solid again in August coming in at 1.6 percent higher than August of last year, according to the Housing Trends by the Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR).

5,398 homes sold in August compared to 5,363 in August 2018. The median sales price of $174,900 calculated to 6.1 percent higher than August 2018.

The number of days on the market rose only 2 days from 53 in August of last year to 55 in August of 2019.

“Historically August is a solid month as summer comes to a close. This August was no exception. The number of properties for sale on the market continues to remain higher with another month over 15,300 properties. The recent interest rate reduced by the Federal Reserve bodes very well for home buyers across the state. Consumer confidence in housing was reported at historically high levels.
