Gavin Blair addresses real estate as an essential service in his latest video update (March 30).
On Friday, March 20, IAR and other industry partners have sent letters to the Governor's office in light of the recent limitations on local and state government services, we respectfully requested her consideration of some measures to ensure that all professions involved in real estate transactions continue to have the ability to process real estate transfers including but but not limited to; title searches, appraisals, permitting, inspections, construction, and especially the transfer and recordation of ownership. Governor Reynolds sent out an official messageencouraging all Auditors, Recorders and Treasurers to offer their full range of vital services to keep Iowa’s economy strong. This is an awesome example of our RPAC dollars hard at work. This demonstrates our important efforts in building and maintaining a strong relationship with our legislators and the governor.
IAR's Government Affairs staff is working diligently to make sure Governor Reynolds and her staff understand the important of real estate to the overall Iowa economy. Any updates on this topic will be posted here or on IAR's social media channels.
IAR has created a COVID-19 addendum/amendment to assist you in your real estate transactions. IAR Legal Counsel, Gabe Walsh, created this form after consulting with several different states and attorneys. This form is not mandated, but simply a great resource for you to use if you wish. As always, it is a good practice to consult with your own legal counsel and broker before incorporating the use of this form. It can be found on Form Simplicity. Search Covid 19. Check out Gabe Walsh’s recent video discussing this form.
IAR Legal Counsel, Gabe Walsh, has put together a page of frequently asked questions that are specific to the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic. IAR staff will do their best to keep this page updated as things are changing almost daily with many of these topics.
The IAR Legal Hotline will continue to operate during its COVID-19 precautions being currently taken. However, all inquiries must be asked and will only be answered through email. Please email any legal hotline questions email@example.com. These inquiries will continue to be monitored and responded to during the scheduled hotline hours by email only. Please do not leave a voicemail as it will not be monitored and no voicemails will be returned.
