Iowa Home Sales and Prices Continue Upward in October

Home sales increased by 4.2 percent in October compared to October of last year, according to the Housing Trends by the Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR). Median sales price went up 3.9 percent from last year.

3,724 Iowa homes were sold in October, while 3,574 homes were sold in October 2018. $161,000 was the median sales price in October.

Properties averaged 56 days on the market (DOM) in October which equaled the DOM in October 2018.

This was the fourth consecutive month with an increase in sales in 2019 when comparing year-over-year change. The year-to-date number of total sales are slightly ahead of 2018.

“We’re beginning to see the overall seasonal slow down of the market as we transition from fall to winter. With that said, we had a busy second half of the year and are slightly ahead of last year’s pace. Homes that are priced right are still selling quickly. Contact your local Realtor® to get a detailed local market report,” stated Scott Wendl, IAR President.
