A note from 2024 IAR President Shaner Magalhães

Everybody knows the adage in real estate that it’s all about location, location, location. Well, throughout my real estate career – when I’m not helping clients buy and sell houses – my passion has been all about involvement, involvement, involvement!

Whether it’s being a member of a service club, serving on a non-profit board, or volunteering on real estate committees/boards, involvement has been a huge priority and one of the main reasons that I find the real estate business so fulfilling - because it affords me the opportunity to give back in so many ways.

As I enter my year as President of the Iowa Association of REALTORS®, I am even more committed to not only dedicating my energy and efforts to lead this great organization, but I am fully committed to encouraging even more IAR members than ever to get involved in whatever aspect of the real estate industry they are passionate about.

Stay tuned for further details soon, but some of the priorities that I’m looking forward to in 2024 are as follows:

  • Enhancing the REALTOR® brand and emphasizing the role of the profession in protecting consumers.

  • Launching the “IAR 360 tour” to educate members on educational, legal, and advocacy benefits.

  • Increasing REALTOR® involvement at all levels of government to further advocate for legislation that supports the real estate industry.

  • Collaborating with DEI initiatives across the state to increase homeownership rates among people of color.

  • Engaging brokers and owners across the state with quarterly updates on their key concerns.

With all the turmoil in the industry, we need you now more than ever to collectively help us become an even better organization and to help shape the real estate industry for the future. After all, We R IAR!!
