Iowa Home Prices Rise, Sales Dip in November

Median home prices rose 4.5 percent while home sales dipped 7 percent in November compared to last year according to the Housing Trends by the Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR).

Median sales price came in last month at $165,000 compared to $157,700 in November 2018.

3,147 residential properties sold in November compared to 3,385 properties in November of last year. Iowa’s year-to-date sales in 2019 are even with 2018. 38,833 homes have sold in 2019 so far this year. That is less than a one percent increase from last year.

Properties in November averaged 57 days on market. That is only 2 days faster than in November 2018.

“Homes in Iowa are selling at almost 97 percent of their list price. Iowa Realtors® are doing a great job pricing homes for their sellers. As we reflect on 2019, it was great to see so many Realtors® giving back to their communities. Realtors® understand the importance of paying-it-forward through charities, serving on civic organizations, or volunteering to help clean up or rebuild neighborhoods,” stated IAR President Scott Wendl.
