Iowa Home Sales Jump Almost 10% in September

Home sales increased by 9.5 percent in September compared to September of last year according to the Housing Trends by the Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR). Median sales price went up by 8.2% percent from last year.

3,602 homes were sold in Iowa during September compared to 3,290 in September 2018. The median sales price for September 2019 calculated to $173,169.

The number of days on the market remained the same as last year with an average of 58 days.

“We experienced a nice bump up in sales in September compared to last year. With that said, we are starting to see the activity slow down a little bit from the busier summer months. Sellers may need to consider a price reduction for their homes that did not sell this summer. ” stated IAR President John Goede.

The information used to create the IAR September Housing Trends Report was current as of October 15. The information is subject to change due to the dynamic nature of the IAR’s housing statistics system, which is based on data from the local participating MLS (multiple listing service) systems.
