Iowa Home Sales Jump in November, Prices Continue Upward Trend

November home sales in Iowa jumped 7 percent and the median sale price increased by 3.6 percent compared to November of last year.

The Housing Trends Report from the Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR) shows 3,320 homes were sold in November compared to 3,103 in November of last year. Median sale price rose 3.6 percent to $153,250 compared to $147,900 in November 2016.

Homes continue to sell faster this year when compared to the same month last year. The average days on market last month was 73 compared to 76 days in November 2016.

“We saw a nice increase in homes sold last month. In addition, pending properties in November were up 5.2 percent from last year. This is the most active November in Iowa real estate for several years.  We hope for a good December to cap off 2017.  We look forward to the kickoff of the First Time Home Savings Account in January. This new program will make it easier for Iowans to save for their first home. Find out more at www.IowaFirstHome.com,” stated 2018 IAR President Mark Kamps.
