The median sale price rose 4.8 percent in April when compared to April of 2016. $149,900 was the median price last month compared to $143,000.
The Housing Trends Report from the Iowa Association of REALTORS® (IAR) show home sales dipped 3.5 percent last month versus April of last year. 3,481 properties sold in April 2017 when compared to 3,607 properties last year in April.
Homes sold 5 days faster last month. Average days on market was 84 while last year in April it took an average 89 days.
“Sales were down a bit, but there are still a lot interested buyers looking for the right home. Inventory was down 3.3 percent from last year. In many markets and specific price ranges, homes are selling much quicker than the statewide average. Of course, all real estate is local and we recommend interested buyers and prospective sellers seek advice from a local Realtor® to gain specific knowledge of their area and research comparable properties,” stated IAR President, Cindy Miller.
