Gary and Judy Stevens of the Cedar Rapids area setup this scholarship program several years ago to help graduating seniors with their future education plans. Their desire was to find those students that were involved in their community and were well-rounded young people.
Gary and Judy passed away in the fall of 2020, leaving behind a legacy of passion and giving back to their community in countless ways. The REALTOR® Foundation of Iowa will continue this scholarship fund this year and provide 3 scholarships for $1,000 each to deserving seniors.
The scholarships are for Iowa high school seniors, who plan on furthering their education in any field including vocational/trade schools. We are soliciting nominations from REALTOR® members who personally know the student (which may be REALTOR® family members) who are worthy of consideration for a scholarship. The REALTOR® Member should state, in their own words, why and what makes the candidate/nominee worthy of consideration.
Nominations are evaluated not solely upon academic or athletic abilities but upon a general sense of the student, including qualities such as good character, community service, volunteerism, work ethic, etc. In short, how they have made and will continue to make a positive influence on their community and those around them.
OPTIONAL information, such as a resume, letters of recommendation, published media, etc. are encouraged to be included. In past years, there are many students that apply and additional information will assist the selection committee in their final selections. Please attach a photo of the student, as it will be used by IAR/RFI in its online or printed articles.
Nominations must be received from active REALTOR® members by 5:00pm on Wednesday, April 26. Recipients will be announced on or before May 13.
