Welcome IAR Legal Counsel, Gabe Walsh

We are pleased to introduce Gabe Walsh as the new legal counsel for the Iowa Association of REALTORS®.

Gabe grew up in Alta, a town in northwest Iowa. He attended Iowa State University after high school. At Iowa State, he studied political science and was highly involved in student government. He attended Drake University Law School and received his law degree thereafter. Upon graduation from law school, Gabe worked at a law firm specializing in criminal law, representing clients on a variety of criminal and administrative matters.

While at both Iowa State and Drake, Gabe worked in various roles at the Story County Attorney’s Office. He was a legal intern and prosecuted cases in front of both judge and jury while at Story County. He also was a student attorney for the Drake Legal Clinic where he represented many clients in court. On top of his internships at Drake, he also was a member of the school mock trial and arbitration teams. In his final year of law school, his arbitration team won a national championship, competing against other schools in mock arbitration hearings from throughout the entire country.

Gabe has received various awards and honors in the legal field. He was selected by his peers to be a member of the Order of Barristers, and received the Ferguson Gold Prize in 2018 for his commitment to public service and providing legal services to low income individuals. He also co-chairs the Iowa Young Lawyers Division Diversity Committee, a group dedicated to increasing diversity and inclusivity in the Iowa legal community. He enjoys playing golf, biking, boating, and spending time outdoors in his free time. He is also an avid Iowa State sports fan and Minnesota Vikings fan. He looks forward to getting to know members and becoming a resource on legal needs.
